Family R&R Time

Both Jenny and I are now on the clinic call schedule for taking evening call.  Jenny's white cloud followed her here and she got not a peep from the radio on her first call.  My "black cloud" followed me as well and I was back in the clinic in under 60 minutes to sew up a lacerated thumb.  Patient confidentiality, no photos!!

We answered a call from a fellow missionary (Eileen) who needed to pick up her pastor at the airport in Goroka (100km away) this weekend. She rented a 4x4 van, and I drove her there and back.  She let our family and a couple other friends tag along for the ride.  She even paid for my lunch!!  Nice gal...  She's the one in the middle.

Ellie had fun playing where we ate lunch...

After lunch, we decided to let the girls have a bilum each which is a small local-made purse that many of the women carry with them.  It was difficult for them to decide as there were so many choices.  They both FINALLY made their choice and off we went back to Ukarumpa.

On the 100km  drive back home, we happened across the local car wash...  Those red stains on the bridge is the spit from people who chew beetle nut (Google it), not blood!

On Friday night, per our new family custom, the girls had movie night with a TV that we borrowed from our good friends, the Ernandez.  I never knew girls could get so wild!  Maybe I need to get an Indiana Jones whip?! (just kidding..)  They watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Yes, that is a fireplace you see in our new (old) house.  I had someone come by yesterday hoping to sell us some firewood for the cold mornings, but he only sells it in 2 meter lengths!  Anyone got a chain saw?!  Now I'm hoping I packed my wood saw in our shipment..

Oh yea, I found our dream vehicle in Goroka.  (gotta post at least one photo of a car!)  Many of the vehicles are white in Goroka, I don't know why.  Anyone got an extra $60-70K lying around?!  These things are NOT cheap here. (that's not a legit question).  We walk everywhere here, and our legs are buffing up for the hiking in Madang that starts in just over two weeks.

We're were unable to find a PMV (private motor vehicle) to Madang, so we signed up reluctantly for a flight.  Wouldn't you know it, within 24 hours of getting our confirmation of the booked flight, we got a one time gift from friends of ours at Elevation Church to cover the cost of the tickets plus a little extra for food.  Only God can orchestrate life so perfectly for His children.  This assures us that our choice to fly was the safe and God-blessed choice.  We have only a couple weeks before leaving for Madang, but we should be able to access the internet there, so our posts should continue...

That's all for now!
